“Tell me about your despair, yours, and I will tell you mine…”

-Mary Oliver

Stop apologizing
Stop it
Don’t start every sentence with
Sorry
Or, some qualification
Sorry but
When did we all become so Canadian?

Even as a person of privilege
You can have an opinion
You are not a bad feminist
You don’t have to be ashamed of liking BBQ
Or Britney Spears
You do not have to grovel or
Walk through hundreds of miles of desert
To make your point

You only have to think and judge and feel
Give openly and
Take with equal measure
Find your callouses dulled
Each charting

A unique and precious perspective
